Constant development

The 'OS' high pressure batch processor, capable of handling pastes, suspensions or solids, is ideal for product formulation or for trial reactions where the ingredients are scarce or expensive, claims its developer, Constant Systems.
Introduced by Christison Scientific, the reactor is claimed to overcome many of the deficiencies of current emulsifying and dispersing equipment. It contains a disrupting head which allows processing in a single pass, with 'minimal' temperature. The reactor's hydraulic system can deliver up to 40 000psi uniformly across the entire 2-10ml sample.
Constant developed the unit primarily for cell disruption, but Christison intends to introduce it to wider applications. 'I would encourage anyone with dispersion or emulsion processing applications to ask for a demonstration,' says Christison's Roly Beevor.
