Mathcad upgrade has 50 new functions and extra graphics

Mathsoft International and Adept Scientific have introduced Mathcad 8, a desktop application that combines the maths, visualisation and collaboration power required to meet the requirements of all engineering corporations and institutions.
Over 50 new functions have been included, as well as new solver technology that allows users, with a single click, to specify the solving method to be used. The calculation engine has been completely rewritten to give extra mathematical functionality.
Document headers and footers are more flexible, so corporate logos can be imported with text and page numbers. Sensitive regions of the worksheet can be hidden and protected with a password.
The new IntelliMath feature automates routine tasks, anticipating the user's next move. SI units are automatically recognised and converted when a calculation is made. The application can also read the difference between maths and text.
Graphic performance has been enhanced to allow 3D plots to be viewed and rotated smoothly.
Mathcad 8 can interoperate fully with other desktop and engineering applications including spreadsheets, CAD packages, MATLAB and Visio Technical.
