Responds to pressure demands

Grundfos Pumps has been working with Anglia Water to achieve an accurate and constant pressure supply for a leading food firm in Thetford, Norfolk.
Anglian Water sought the manufacturer's technical and service support when it took on the role of consultant to Fisher Chilled Foods to advise on the best means of creating high volume, constant pressure for the manufacturing process.
Working with Anglia Water, Grundfos constructed this bespoke variable speed booster set comprising five of its CR16-30 vertical multi-stage pumps mounted on a single chassis.
The pumping is cycled so that the lead pump changes on a regular basis. In addition, as the pumps are controlled by a variable frequency inverter, they can match their speed exactly and instantly to variations in demand so that the pressure remains absolutely constant. As more or fewer pumps are required according to need, they can ramp up or down softly to give a `stepless' change over.
In addition, Grundfos claims its variable speed operation offers long term energy savings over conventional pumpsets. A 20 per cent reduction in speed, for example, generates a 50 per cent electrical energy saving, says Grundfos.
