Hattersley has designs on diaphragm market
15 Jan 2000
Well established in the building services market, industral valve manufacturer Hattersley Newman Hender is launching next month a range of diaphragm valves aimed at increasing its penetration into the process industries.
The launch comes on top of a near £2million investment in the company's production and IT systems at its maufacturing facility in Ormskirk, Lancashire.
The new diaphragm valves are said to be particularly suited to the chemical and food processing industries. They are available in a weir or straight-through design, both of which can incorporate manual, pneumatic and electrical actuation.
Both designs have a lubricated stem and corrosion-resistant linings, which ensure smooth flow and eliminate the need for exotic alloys in the valve body. The straight-through design has a smooth bore and compressor which gives total support to the diaphragm throughout its travel.
The complete range, including aseptic models, is said to offer minimal corrosion, simple maintenance, minimal spares holding and less downtime, together with the ability to interchange with similar makes thus making installation easier.
On the building services front, which makes up two thirds of Hattersley's current business, the company has recently picked up a number of prestigious contracts. These include £500 000 worth of valves for the Millennium Dome and over 800 Autoflow automatic balancing valves for the world's tallest hotel in Dubai.
