Windmill's communication tools save time
15 Jan 2000
Windmill Software's IML Tools package allows engineers to communicate with data acquisition devices using Microsoft Excel, web browsers and Visual Basic programs. The system supports Ethernet, RS-232, RS-485, GPIB, Modbus and Lonworks devices, as well as cards that plug directly into the PC.
In a VB system, the IML tools appear as a menu item which users can select and insert into their own code. The VB program will then be able to configure hardware, read data channels and send control signals to hardware channels. They can also run from javascript code on a web page, or directly from Excel or Access.
The tools run under Windows 2000, NT, 98 or 95, and are bundled with seven applications from the Windmill 5 suite for logging, charting and other data handling functions.
