Applications platform for flow
15 Jan 2000
Fisher-Rosemount Flow has launched the Altus 3000 'applications' platform, an electronics package designed for use with Micro Motion Coriolis sensors and other electronic flowmeters.
Altus 3000 comes with an integrated Micro Motion transmitter that provides the traditional Coriolis measurement of mass flow, density and temperature.
In addition, the Altus computes parameters such as Brix, viscosity, per cent solids, net solids, net oil, net flow, API gravity and specific gravity.
PID and batch control are also available, as is a variety of serial communications such as Hart, Fieldbus, Modbus, Profibus, Allen Bradley and Device Net.
Each Altus platform can simultaneously run up to three selected applications, either as one control function with two measurements, or as three individual measurements. By running multiple applications from the one device, Altus reduces costs and simplifies installation and upgrading.
Additional functionality can be added to the system by downloading snap-on software modules via a PC.
Life cycle cost estimates point to savings of up to $50000/a.
