University chemical engineering courses

Smith and Nephew chairman John Robinson repeated calls for the government and industry to put money into university chemical engineering courses to maintain Britain's competitive edge. Opening the Institution of Chemical Engineers' Jubilee exhibition in London, Robinson (left, with IChemE president John Bridgewater) highlighted the £4 billion trade surplus generated by the chemical industry. 'Britain is at the forefront of training and expertise in the chemical engineering field, a global centre of excellence,' he said. Without continued investment in universities, 'we could watch the expertise we so often export around the world diminish.'
