Dangerous dust removal
15 Jan 2000
In the summer, Glaxo Wellcome increased the production at its Hertfordshire site and needed extra air extraction at the plant for effective dust control.
BTR Environmental were asked to develop a solution to the increase of hazardous dust in the plant. The answer was a system based around four DCE Unicell C-72 dust collectors. Connected to an intricate ductwork system, these units extract dust from 38 separate points below pharmaceutical tableting and compression machinery within the building.
Each collector provides 72m2 filtration area using spun-bonded polyester elements. The air passes from the filters through a Vokes Unipak Particulate Arrestor system which protects the staff and external environment from contamination when filters are changed.
