Cleveland Potash is hoping for a payback of less than 6 months following the retrofit of a medium-voltage ac drive by Slater Drive Systems of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. The 200kW, 3.3kV ACS 1000 drive from ABB Automation, drives a pump to control the flow of a potash and brine mix for fertilisers and food products from Europe's deepest mine near Whitby, North Yorkshire.
