ICI pulls out of Teesside solids

Imperial Chemicals Industries is stopping production of solid reagent chemicals on Teesside and selling the business's commercial interests to DuPont of the US for an undisclosed sum but at the cost of some 90 jobs.
ICI said it was leaving the business - which makes chemicals for gold extraction from ore - to concentrate on liquid reactants which are sold into the agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals and fine chemicals markets.. The business has annual sales of £15.6million.
