Amec fills a gap
Sydney Gillibrand, chairman of Amec, is to serve as temporary chief executive during the absence of Peter Mason. He will probably be at the helm for several months, while Mason recovers from an operation.

Kvaerner John Brown has made two new appointments to its hydrocarbons pipeline team. Alan Thorne, previously with British Gas, is to become business manager - pipelines in the company's London office, while Ed Cavanagh joins Kvaerner from Fluor-Williams as vice president - pipelines America, in the Houston offices.
