Packaged filters for Pakistan petrochem
15 Jan 2000
Filtration systems designed to withstand the harshest of climatic conditions are being supplied by Goodtech Vanpipe to contractor Foster Wheeler for installation at ICI Pakistan's petrochemical complex at Port Qasim, near Karachi.
The systems are a complete skid-mounted sand filter package for cooling water duty, and catalyst solution and feed slurry filters, all for a PTA (pure terephthalic acid) plant.
The sand filter uses an advanced design to allow operation at the high flow rates of 29-48m3/h per m2 of filter area. The two catalyst solution filters feature titanium housings and basket strainers with a mesh size of 1mm. They are used to remove particulates from the feed.
The two feed slurry filters are manufactured in stainless steel and their duty is to filter terephthalic acid slurry in water through a 3mm basket mesh size.
