Starch marches on for Larox
15 Jan 2000
With the 24th sale of its automatic pressure filter to the starch industry, Larox is collaring a market previously well served by centrifuges. The Larox filters can generally give residual moisture contents some 10 per cent lower than with a centrifuge, which allows a higher throughput to the plants' flash dryers.
The filters are being used for dewatering and washing starch produced from wheat, corn and other crops. They range in size from 12.5 to 84m2, with most being 38m2.
Larox says starch producers prefer its filters because of higher dry solids filter cake, reduction of filtrate losses, reduced energy and water consumption.
