Washing powder mess cleaned up
15 Jan 2000
Common problems associated with the packing of washing powders include corrosion, stickiness and clumping. Classiclean, a South African washing powder manufacturer, has sought to reduce the giveaway associated with volumetric methods, as well as to reduce these problems.
With a high salt content and a pH value of 10, the powder can attack contact parts swiftly. Fast processing through a modern multihead weigher seemed to be a good solution to the problem, and the Ishida CCWRZ-214-S/30PB, was selected to do the job.
The higher throughput speeds associated with multihead weighing reduced clumping problems. To add to this effect, the Ishida incorporates steeply angled dispersion feeder troughs and a 60 one-piece discharge chute. Contact parts are beadblasted, which produces microscopic peaks and valleys which reduce the surface in contact with the product.
