Weir pursues partners
15 Jan 2000
Weir Engineering Services (WES) has entered a three year pump management agreement with British Steel covering 11 sites, mainly in South Wales.
Under the contract WES will be responsible for guaranteed cost savings in pump repair, replacement and component management.
The agreement is the latest contract in a major drive by WES to increase its market share in specialist areas such as facilities and asset management in niche business sectors.
Peter Syme, managing director of WES, says, `This contract is a major step towards bringing the skills and knowledge developed for the North Sea to benefit industry onshore, and we are actively pursuing other maintenance partnership agreements.'
The contract will be WES's South Wales service centre at Cardiff, where a dedicated team has been created to handle the workload.
