Exit de Bree as DSM names chair
15 Jan 2000
Dutch chemical group DSM is appointing Peter Elverding as chairman. Elverding will succeed retiring Simon de Bree from July of this year.
Elverding has been with DSM since 1985 and held many management posts before joining the board in 1995, with responsiblities covering resins and research. Elverding is also a member of the executive committee of the Federation of Dutch Industries and the Dutch Chamber of Commerce.
De Bree, meanwhile, is a familiar figure in the chemical industry because of his association with CEFIC, the European chemical industry council. Chairman of DSM since 1993, he has served as vice-president of the Association of Plastics Manufacturers in Europe; president of the Association of Petrochemical Producers in Europe; and was president of CEFIC itself for three years.
The vacant position on DSM's managing board will be taken by Jan Dopper, currently director of DSM Resins. A qualified chemical engineer, he has been with DSM since 1985.
