Load cell tackles silos
15 Jan 2000
Tedea-Huntleigh (Europe) has added a new range of double-ended, shear beam load cells and dedicated silo mounting systems to its weighbridge and silo weighing portfolio. The TH 4158 is constructed in nickel plated alloy steel, sealed to IP 67 and meeting NTEP standards.
It is available in seven capacities between 10 000 and 75 000lb. Options include a Baseefa-approved version for hazardous areas with EEx ia IIC T6 certification. The cells give an error of 0.05 per cent of applied load, THE claims. Rugged construction of the load cell is combined with good environmental sealing to give long operational lifetime.
The newly-designed Silo Mount Kits are claimed to be simple to install, require minimal maintenance and withstand long term, heavy duty use. Three models cover the range of TH 4158 load cells and have been designed to suit weighing applications both under cover and outside.
Mount design features include allowance for tilt in any direction. Lift-off protection is built-in. The whole load cell and mount assembly has been designed and engineered to be unaffected by thermal expansion of the vessel.
Side load protection is rated at 100 per cent and overload capability at 150 per cent in the normal loading direction, without appreciable damage.
