Putting the power into processing

Among the many process companies boosting the first `P' of the PPMA show, Watson-Marlow Bredel Pumps is displaying its new hygienic combination of Sta-Pure peristaltic pump tubing with its high flow 800 Series pump. Developed in collaboration with US sealant specialist WL Gore, the Sta-Pure tubing (see PE, July/August 1999, p11) can operate at pressures up to 4bar and is said to last 18 times longer than conventional silicone tubing. It is available across the range of 500, 600, 700 and 800 Series pumps.
Clearly appreciating that seeing is believing, Ytron Quadro (UK) has a special version of its U20 Quadro Comil on show. This unit has a cut-away shroud with illumination of the screen and impeller to demonstrate the effect of co-milling. Also on show is a new 194GP Comil, based on a modular design for custom-designed operations. The well-known Ytron range of mixing and dissolving equipment is represented by an Ytron Y Directed jet mixer designed for side mounting in vessels, while the company's expertise in incorporating solids into liquids is highlighted by the Xyclon, which is capable of incorporating powders at up to 50 per cent concentration at flows of 30-40m3/h.
