VOC filter steps ahead of its time

IBS Viridian has developed what it sees as a cost-effective solution to meet the tough new legislation on VOC emissions being introduced next year.
With the aid of the DTI and the BOC Foundation for the Environment, the company has tested a two-stage biological filtration system on a laboratory rig and has now installed a demonstration unit at a Dr Marten shoe factory.
The new process comprises two biological stages: an initial biotrickling filter stage, followed by an organic bed biofilter. Removal of over 95 per cent of VOCs has been achieved.
