Westinghouse wins $68 million RSG contract

Westinghouse Electric Company has won a $68 million contract to design, manufacture and facilitate licensing of replacement steam generators (RSGs) for the Tennessee Valley Authority's Watts Bar 1 nuclear power plant in Spring City, Tennessee.
According to a statement, design, project management and quality assurance work for the RSGs will take place in Westinghouse facilities in Chattanooga, and Madison, while licensing activities will be managed out of the Westinghouse Energy Centre in Monroeville.
Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co. Ltd. of the Republic of Korea will manufacture the four replacement steam generators as a subcontractor to Westinghouse.
Delivery of the steam generators to the 1158 Mwe, 4-loop Westinghouse-designed plant is the autumn 2005 with installation scheduled for 2006.
