Safety features at gas plant

ICS Triplex is to provide an integrated turnkey control and safety system for the new liquid petroleum gas storage plant which is being built at Raffineria di Milazzo, in Sicily.
The refinery's operators wanted to combine emergency shut down (ESD) and fire and gas (F&G) detection functions. ICS's `Trusted' triple modular redundancy (TMR) safety system was recommended to fit the bill. The fault tolerant solution can maintain safety performance at 100 per cent and the resultant 600 I/O count from the plant's control system is well within its capabilities. It is connected via a dual serial link to a 600 I/O DSC and to a UPS.
