Seeds are sprayed all year

Bayer has been using pumps from Watson-Marlow Bredel in seed mills across Britain for many years, with now over 200 pumps in use. The peristaltic pump in the new 620 series applies agrochemical to seed through a very exact process. An extremely small volume of chemical is evenly distributed on the seed, consisting of 1.5ml per kilo of seed.
The seed drops into a chamber with a big rotor turning at the bottom. This forces the seed into a Torus, a doughnut shaped ring, where the chemical is applied in droplets from a spinning disc onto the seed. The seed spins around and up and down for between 2 to 15 seconds before emerging from the other end. The pumps coat different seeds depending on the season. In Scotland, wheat, barley and oilseed rape are coated in the summer/autumn and barley and oats in the spring. The 600 series is reliable and accurate and works well in different climates and even in very cold conditions.
