A safe silo for sludge

A sewage sludge silo has been supplied by Portasilo Bulk Handling Systems for Wessex Water. The silo was supplied to Swiss Combi Technology who have provided the sludge drying system. The silo has a 50m3 capacity and will store approximately 32tonnes of dried sewage sludge. Due to the explosive nature of the product, the silo has been fitted with explosion venting, carbon monoxide and temperature monitoring systems. A carbon dioxide silo inerting package is also included. The silo discharges the product to either of two destinations: a road tanker loading point or a bagging machine.
