Pumps take on the task
12 Jun 2000
`They were OK until they went wrong' was said of the traditional figure of eight style of double diaphragm pump used at MMG-Neosid, who supply magnetic components to industry. The old pumps, which have a large number of nuts and bolts, have been replaced with the 300 series pumps from Flotronic. The one-nut principle allows the diaphragm to be changed in less than twenty minutes. Products handled by the pumps include an iron oxide, zinc and magnesium slurry containing a PVA binder, which is transferred from settling tanks to the spray dryers which are crucial to their production process.
