IT the target for power producers
29 Mar 2000
The next round of pollution prevention improvements at power generation plants will involve significant investment in information technology, according to the MacIlvaine Company. Digital control systems will be the subject of the largest expenditures, while upgrades of field devices and sensors will also be needed. Spending will increase from $7.8billion in 1999 to $9.6billion in 2003, the market research company predicts, with coal-burning power stations needing to invest more heavily than gas-turbine plants.
