Mono helps to put cream in your coffee

An SL Range progressing cavity pump from Mono has solved a maintenance problem at Premier Brands UK's Staffordshire plant where it has been installed to work on the liquid coffee whitener line.
The previous pump on this duty needed to be overhauled at least once a year. But now, Premier process engineer Peter Appleton comments: `Continued good service from Mono Pumps and the additional advantage of low-cost spares has provided a cost-effective and efficient method to transfer coffee whitener, along with a reduction in the line's downtime.'
At rates of up to 600 l/h, whitener is transferred from a storage vessel to a spray dryer where it is converted into the finished powder form.
Appleton had two additional demands from the pump-first that it had to be suitable for cleaning-in-place, and secondly that it met IP65 protection standards to cope with external cleaning by high-pressure hoses.
