Ciba and Nalco/Exxon team up for processing alliance
29 Mar 2000
A global alliance between Ciba Specialty Chemicals and Nalco/Exxon Energy Chemicals aims to enlarge its share in the process and refining chemicals market. Ciba will produce and supply products and technologies used in process treatment programmes, and Nalco/Exxon will formulate and market these systems and provide on-site services.
The products covered by the alliance include polymerisation retarders and inhibitors, and were previously sold by Ciba under the brand name Prostab. They are used to prevent fouling and unwanted polymer formation in petrochemical processes using styrene, ethylene, butadiene and acrylates.
The alliance will help the companies take advantage of Ciba's technological edge and Nalco/Exxon's reach in the hydrocarbon industries. `Nalco/Exxon's operating strategy has always been to provide the best solution for our customers through our global network of on-site technical field specialists,' says its ceo, Jack Schubert. `The alliance enables both organisations to bring an expanded portfolio of best practices to the hydrocarbon industry, and help our customers maximise their operating efficiency, reliability and profitability.'
