IN BRIEF: Rotork becomes the first offshore
29 Mar 2000
Rotork has won a contract valued around £2.25 million to become the first manufacturer to supply a total package of electric, pneumatic and hydraulic valve actuation and control systems for an offshore platform - the Snorre B. This platform is being built for Saga Petroleum SA and will be one of largest in the North Sea.
Control for electric valve actuation will be provided by Rotork's Pakscan dedicated two-wire digital comms system in the vessel's drilling plant areas and by Profibus DP fieldbus interface cards in all other areas. Over 300 actuators, 200 floating and trunnion mounted ball valves and through-conduit slab gate valves, and nearly 100 Rotork actuated Orbit metal seated ball valves will be supplied.
