PE hits the web as E4 Network goes live
7 Apr 2000
Process Engineering's parent company, Centaur Engineering, has taken its first step into e-business (see p21) with the launch of the E4 Network, a portal site on the worldwide web for the company's engineering products, which can be found on www.e4engineering.com.
The E4engineering site brings together the content of the six Centaur engineering magazines - Process Engineering, Control & Instrumentation, Design Engineering, What's New in Industry, Metalworking Production and The Engineer. It includes a searchable archive of these titles from the past three years.
On another part of the network, E4data, users can search equipment suppliers' data sheets and British Standards information. This database was produced with Technical Indexes, a data acquisition specialist with over 30 years experience of engineering firms. The process section of E4data features 230,000 pages of data on plant and equipment, instrumentation and services. The database includes hotlinks to the suppliers' own websites.
