Proximity switches ensure safety on boiler gas feeds
3 May 2000
Designed for natural gas and LPG lines, KV's type 43 safety shut-off valves are finding uses in feeding burners in combined heat and power plants. The valves are approved by British Gas, and can operate reliably from zero bar with no differential pressure.
In CHP applications, the valves are used in pairs in a double block configuration - the second valve in each pair is fitted with a proximity switch to confirm that it is closed. The solenoids that control the valves are low electricity consumption models, which are easier to interface with digital control systems.
The valves use BSP fittings in sizes from EN161-approved 1/2" to 11/2". Larger, non-approved fittings are also available, up to 3" BSP, and up to 16" with DN flanges. All EN161 models are equipped with proximity switches; these can also be fitted to non-approved models.
