Easy installation for air boxes
3 May 2000
A new range of air boxes from IFM electronic will make controlling pneumatic actuators from AS-i systems a far simpler process, the company says. Instead of having to install and wire separate solenoid-operated pilot valves and AS-i slave modules, the air boxes provide all the necessary functions in a single compact unit.
The air boxes contain a single changeover valve controlled from the AS-i bus, and digital input circuits for use with position sensors. Indicator LEDs show the switching status of the sensor inputs and the internal valve.
The valve has an operating pressure of 2-8bar, which can be extended to cover 90 per cent vacuum to 8 bar if an external 3bar pilot air supply is available.
Installation is a simple matter, with the box connecting to the AS-i cable via standard insulation-displacement connectors and all pneumatic connections made with integral push-in fittings. The exhaust is via a push-in tube or an integrated silencer with a sintered filter.
