Hindle has a ball at mega-complex
3 May 2000
Exxon Chemical has chosen Hindle ball valves for the emergency shut-off system at its petrochemical complex in Singapore, currently the largest plant of its type in the world. The complex, due to open at the end of the year, is being built by a consortium of contractors.
The valves will service the fuel feed lines for the burners that heat the plant's process fluids. In an emergency, the valves will close automatically, starving the boilers of fuel. The project furnace contractors, Agra Birwelco, chose the valves because of their fire-safe operation and ANSI class VI shut-off rating, says Hindle.
