Slurry with a froth on top

Asco Joucomatic's solenoid valves are the key to an aeration system that keeps stored slurries in a pumpable state. Much cheaper than impeller agitation, the system uses a series of 11/2"" valves to blow a high volume of air through the slurry.
Asco Joucomatic's solenoid valves are the key to an aeration system that keeps stored slurries in a pumpable state. Much cheaper than impeller agitation, the system uses a series of 11/2" valves to blow a high volume of air through the slurry.
The system, developed by NR Watson to operate in farms and sewage works, uses 215 series valves, which incorporate a hung diaphragm allowing them to operate on differential pressures from 0 to 3bar. In the aeration system, each valve provides 140ft3/min of air at 1bar.
The air bubbles ensure that the slurry is well-mixed, while also reducing odours by encouraging the growth of aerobic bacteria.
