Remote sewage treatment works have a flare for safety on gas burners
3 May 2000
Safety control boxes have been installed on process burners for use with aerobic digesters at water treatment and sewage works. Biogas from sewage treatment works is piped from the digesters to boilers which provide heating for various processes. Any excess gas not used for heating has to be flared off by low level waste gas burners. The safety boxes were supplied by Satronic which are suitable for process lines that require careful control of the gas and air supply. The electro-mechanical unit is designed for boilers with unlimited firing rates and for direct-fired air heaters. A key feature is a fault-finding diagnostic facility with eight different identification functions including the ability to monitor burner lockouts. A computer link can also be set up which would offer significant savings at remote locations and 24 hour supervision of burners.
