Filter takes away oily waste water
3 May 2000
Koyo Bearings, manufacturers of heavy duty roller bearings, handle increasing volumes of oily waste water which are not suitable for direct discharge to sewer. The company initially decided to use a dissolved air flotation (DAF) plant for the on-site treatment of liquid effluent and then to retrofit an ultra-filtration plant from Koch Membrane Systems. The oily waste from a degreaser bath is fed to an oil separator and a process tank. The remaining fluid is then passed through the ultrafiltration plant, consisting of 16, 1 inch diameter tubular modules. The filtered waste water is then discharged to drain, while the concentrate is passed to a holding tank.
