Alfa Laval offers `Unique' tailoring for all applications
3 May 2000
Alfa Laval's sanitary mixproof valve range, dubbed `Unique', provides greater levels of security than any other type of valve currently available for these applications, the company claims. Each valve can be tailored precisely to the end-use, it says, which `drastically reduces the risk of over-engineering'.
Options available include balanced or unbalanced upper and lower plugs, seat lift integrated into the actuator and clean-in-place for the plugs and leakage chamber. For a food and drink application, for example, a seat lift and balanced lower plug would prevent products mixing if the system is affected by pressure shocks. Only parts of the valve that are in use during activation are subject to wear and tear.
The company has developed a CIP system specially for Unique valves, which sprays the leakage chamber in a spiral pattern `to provide maximum cleaning efficiency with minimal cleaning fluid consumption.' Another device sprays fluid at a high velocity around the spindles, which removes accumulated product more efficiently than spraying directly at the spindle.
