The government has allocated funding to 14 projects through the Foresight Link Awards(FLA). The government funding of over £7 million is being more than matched by industry to make a total investment of £16million. The Foresight Link awards bring together business and the science base to explore new technology opportunities.
One of the projects is to produce the knowledge-based tools required to track manufacturing processes from start to finish in an adaptive manner. The three year research is being led by the University of Strathclyde in a consortium with Newcastle and Hull universities; AstraZeneca and Umetrics, amongst others. Funding includes £0.94million from the FLA and £1.9million from industry.
