Waste water recycled away from the glass of the day

Pilkington Glass has found a way to recycle waste water from its diamond cutting process, making considerable savings in waste water and settlement tank cleaning charges.
Once the glass has been cut it needs hosing down. The waste water was originally sent to a settling tank prior to discharge to the sewer. But, the tank had to be cleaned every month until the arrival of the Sentinel Mini waste water treatment plant from WMEC which recycles the water once every 30 minutes, every day of the year.
The dirty water is transferred to a 4500 litre holding tank and is then treated by continuous batch by the 750 litre Mini Sentinel. The company hopes to install a larger treatment plant to treat all the water as 150 000 litres per month is still discharged to the original settlement tanks.
