Tests put packing top
18 Feb 2000
Supagraf Premier, the latest fugitive emission control packing from sealing specialist James Walker, has come top of its class in comparative tests run by Akzo Nobel in the Netherlands.
The chemical company tested 20 graphite, PTFE and graphite/PTFE compression packings in co-operation with CAPI, an end-user group comprising Akzo, DSM, Dow and Shell.
At ambient temperatures, the Supagraf leakage rate was between six and 100 times less than other brands, and it lasted 12 times longer than the next best packing. Significantly, in Akzo's temperature cycling test the packing achieved over 1000 mechanical cycles before reaching the leak rate threshold.
