Wastewater costs evaporate away
9 Oct 2000
Following the expansion into the US of its parent company Severn Trent Services (see PE July/August 2000, p13), Capital Controls is now introducing into the UK an innovative way of treating wastewater from a variety of industrial processes. Recognised as industry standards in the US, Samsco water evaporators can significantly reduce wastewater volumes, resulting in far lower transportation costs and, according to Capital's business development director Bob Hastings, estimated paybacks within six to 18 months.
These savings complement environmental benefits and Hastings reports demand already from companies working to achieve the environmental management standard ISO 14001. 'This method of reducing waste disposal costs and liabilities is well-established in the US,' he says. 'It is used across a wide range of industries for waste streams.' The Samsco evaporators are available as both thermal and vacuum systems. Thermal units, for volumes up to 13 000 l/day, dispose of water as it separates waste in one simple step.
