Tessenderlo buys out Saplast

The Tessenderlo Group, an international chemicals group with over 112 branches in 22 countries, is set to acquire Saplast the largest independent French manufacturer of PVC compounds.
The Group will actually buy two companies, Saplast SA and its subsidiary Europolymers SA. The companies employ just under 100 people and the annual turnover for 2001 was 57 million Euros.
With a compounding capacity of 80,000 tons per year, Saplast makes PVC compounds in either granulated or premixed form for use in plasticised and rigid applications, mainly in the construction and cabling industries.
The acquisition has been submitted for approval to the French regulatory body responsible for mergers.
The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
