TOD best for monitoring
22 Aug 2000
Monitoring difficult effluents, such as untreated wastewaters, high salts and complex hydrocarbons, is best done by measuring total oxygen demand, TOD, according to Ionics. TOD gives closer correlation with COD (chemical oxygen demand) for many effluents, including difficult non-organic oxidisable species, says the company, which was showing its range of organic and oxygen demand monitors at ET. Ionics believes that continuous on-line TOC and TOD monitoring can also help to improve process yields.
