Handy check for plant steam traps
22 Aug 2000
The VKP30 Traptest from Invensys company Gestra UK is a hand-held device for monitoring the performance of steam traps. Together with an ultrasonic sensor unit, the VKP30 digitally decodes and analyses vibration signals picked up from the trap as steam flows through it. The data can be downloaded to a PC so that information on every trap on a plant can be compiled for later use in planning maintenance schedules, rationalising spares and eliminating possible sources of energy loss around the plant.
