Easy-clean mixer suits drug makers
22 Aug 2000
Extrodomix from Hoskoawa Rietz has been modified to mix, agglomerate and extrude solids and liquids for the food and pharmaceutical industries.
Mixing takes place as solids and/or liquids are fed into the main inlet where hammers fitted to the main shaft rotate between fixed anvils. For pharmaceutical applications, the inlet valve draws off dust under negative pressure.
Fitting interchangeable intermediate orifice plates creates three mixing chambers within the barrel to control the degree of mixing.
At the discharge end, the model features a discharge valve enclosed with ducting and an inspection window. Cleaning is easy, as the barrel splits, exposing the main rotor.
