Extreme level measurement

When processes involve toxicity, abrasion, high temperatures, high pressures or baffles, conventional methods of data transmission tend to fail, and radiometric techniques come into their own.
Endress+Hauser’s Gammapilot M FMG60 compact transmitter offers the advantages of radiometry, using a variable transmitter with a sodium iodide crystal or plastic scintillator, allowing it to adapt to different environments.
Owing to its compact design, the Gammapilot M can be used for applications such as detection of level limits, continuous measurement of level, interface layer and density measurement.
It has two separate connection compartments and a stainless steel housing makes it suitable for harsh environments and conditions.
The device complies with IEC61508 for functional safety and has SIL2 approval for overspill protection. Offering automatic monitoring from the sensor to the power output, Gammapilot M also issues a warning when components have to be exchanged.
Gammapilot M can be used with HART, PROFIBUS PA and Foundation Fieldbus. Also from E+H is the Levelflex M guided radar device, which has outperformed the competition in tests run by WIB, the International Instrument Users’ Association.
The WIB report praised Levelflex M for its ease-of-use and high accuracy. With all test fluids (water at 15°C, water at 70°C, pentane and transformer oil), the accuracy measurements were within manufacturer’s specification and no corrections or adjustments were needed.
