Aveva advances expansion plan

Cambridge-headquartered Aveva said it plans to increase its UK product development team by around 10%. The expansion, it noted will include the appointment of a senior executive with responsibility for design and automation products.
The company will meanwhile, open a product development office in Chennai, India. The unit is to employ up to 70 new staff, will help meet the company’s global requirement for IT professionals, said a 6 Feb company release.
Aveva will also increase its commitment to Microsoft's .Net technology for enhancing productivity, interaction and information sharing in a broad range of industrial applications, the statement added.
Richard Longdon, CEO of AVEVA, said: “Expanding our operations and investing in new technological developments is the key to maintaining our market-leading status. The expansion in India and investment in Microsoft's .net technology will help us to cement our successful business strategy.”
Aveva’s expansion plans follow a steady rise in the number of power, marine and oil and gas projects around the world last year. The group said its software would support a wide range of major projects over the next 10 years; 44 £1-billion offshore developments, 13 £1.5-billion refineries, 27 £1-billion LNG plants and 11 £3.5-billion petrochemical plants.
Listed on the London Stock Exchange , Aveva reported sales of £58 million for the year end 31 March 2005, and employs over 500 in offices worldwide
