Newly available for quick easy purchase from the online shop at www.plan-b.co.uk is the Ecliptical Valve. This new design makes it possible for process plants to have the benefits of flow meters at every point where monitoring gas or liquid flow is important, without the considerable cost of buying a flow meter for every location. You just use one flow meter that is easily moved from pipe to pipe, with simple press-in, pull-out insertion and removal.

The key is the new Ecliptical valve. When you want to move the flow meter to a new location, you simply close the valve to stop the flow, remove the probe, cap off the valve and then reopen the valve to re-start the flow. The whole operation takes seconds.

Installing the flow meter into a different pipe is a similar operation, made even easier because the Ecliptical Valve has been designed so that the flow meter probe auto-inserts to the correct depth and with the correct orientation.

The probe in the picture is a mass flow meter design, optimised for accuracy and suitable for pipes from 1” diameter to 6” diameter. Its design is derived from Plan-B Marketing’s successful ClimaAir technology and can be supplied with a 4-20mA analogue output, or with a frequency output, or with a user-definable switched output, as required. The flow meter is suitable for a wide range of gases – air, oxygen, nitrogen, helium, argon, carbon dioxide, hydrogen, nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide and many hydrocarbons.
