New all-stainless steel mixers for sterile processing environments

Capable of enhancing the quality and efficiency of production for products in which the active ingredients must be suspended in solvents, the new SSP (Stainless Steel Portable) is suitable for open tank applications, for which Chemineer offer a number of mounting options, including angle risers or flat-plate mounts.
For closed tanks, Chemineer has also introduced the SSNC mixer (Stainless Steel Mechanical Cartridge), which can be mounted using tri-clover flanges, ASNI-rated flanges or DIN flanges as standard.
All drives incorporate a fully-sealed wash-down motor, with the closed-tank application SSNC mixer benefiting from PTFE gasket seals on all joints. The seal housing on both mixers is specially designed with curved surfaces and no crevices, so that, for example, water from steam-cleaning runs off very easily.
The shaft mechanical seals are selected to suit the process and can be dry-running or fully lubricated. On the mechanical seal there are options for a steam purge or particle catcher to prevent ingress to the tank’s products.
Chemineer, who became one of the first companies to gain ATEX approval for use of its mixers and agitators in Zone Zero hazardous areas, can now offer upgrades to those needing to adhere to this important new legislation.

The Directive applies to equipment that has its own source of ignition;
is intended for use in a potentially explosive atmosphere (air mixtures); and is under normal atmospheric conditions. Mixers not complying with ATEX can be cost-effectively upgraded by Chemineer, who also have achieved ATEX Zone 1 for its XP, MR, HS and Greerco High Shear mixers.
In addition to meeting the ATEX Directive, Chemineer’s commitment to quality and safety has seen it achieve compliance with ASME-BPE quality, which demonstrates an exemplary standard for manufacturing high purity equipment ideally suited to critical industries. Chemineer also became one of the very first designers and manufacturers of mixers and agitators to achieve the stringent requirements of the EU’s new Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) – an important safety issue often overlooked by some contractors.
