InstronÒ Introduces An Extra Long Travel Extensometer (Model Exl)
9 Jun 2006
Instron, a leading provider of testing equipment designed to evaluate mechanical properties of materials and components, offers its new Extra Long Travel Extensometer (EXL). This precise device is used for measuring strain in highly extensible materials such as elastomers, semi-rigid plastics and films.
Designed for use on electromechanical testing instruments, this high elongation extensometer is designed to easily and quickly clamp directly onto a specimen. It is specifically designed to permit testing the sample through rupture without damaging the extensometer or disrupting the test routine. The Instron EXL measures specimen elongations up to 30 inches, or 750mm, of clamp displacement and has the ability to measure 3000% strain with a 1-inch gauge length. The EXL adjusts to incremental gauge lengths, which are available in English or Metric, ranging from .5 inches to 5 inches or 10 mm to 200 mm.
