KME, the UK Displays specialist, has announced that it will end production of CRT monitors within 12 months, after 25 years of continual production in the

“The result “, says Nick Roche, KME’s Marketing Director “is to push down the price of a TFT monitor for 15.6kHz., CGA, EGA, 24kHz., or any other legacy timing, to the level of current CRT replacements. So we judge the time is right to wind down CRT monitor production and put all our eggs in the TFT basket. We do this with a heavy heart as the CRT has proved to be a trusty workhorse since we launched our first monitor – a 5” monochrome chassis - in 1982 “ (It is still in production today !) but the specialist CRT components are harder to find today. TFT Technology is the future for us and our customers”.
The 71UN Series will replace 10”,12” 14” & 15” CRT monitors with bright, crisp TFT screens, irrespective of the type of legacy driving signal. The new A-D board – designated XP 5.7 – locks on to all non-standard signals and converts them to the full pixel resolution of modern TFT panels with the push of a few buttons. Customers see their old displays transformed with 21st century readability, extending the life of the N.C. Machine Tool, Process Controller or other Military, Marine & Rail display-based system. The TFT panels are inset into metal chassis that replicate the fixing points of the original CRT chassis. All connector types are maintained so that the TFT monitor simply slips into position in place of the aging CRT.
